Free Speech Movement Café

Designed to be as comfortable as a 1960’s Berkeley coffeehouse, The Free Speech Movement Café was created to pay tribute to what Chancellor Robert M. Berdahl has called “the firestorm that the FSM created across the nation.”

Exhibiting articles, quotations, literature, photos and a giant mural of the events that set off the Free Speech Movement in Berkeley in 1964, the café also celebrates current social activism with news monitors, computer access to the FSM and other websites, and an LED display to announce current events from around the world.
