The Icehouse is San Francisco’s largest masonry complex, built in 1941 to manufacture ice for the city’s fishing industry. Our task was to transform these historic buildings, totaling 200,000 square feet, into corporate headquarters for one of San Francisco’s oldest companies.
In keeping with the client’s image and style, the design needed to be casual and comfortable with a sense of genuine quality. The design respects and reuses the best of the old buildings and celebrates the contrast of new and old.
