Glen Ellen Tasting Room and History Museum

This project is adaptive reuse of a historic Sonoma County building, a portion of which was originally developed in 1880 by General Mariano Vallejo as a sawmill. The architect’s task was to create a casual, comfortable and functional visitor’s center from the historic collection of the wood and concrete building.

The tasting room features simple yet elegantly detailed wood walls, fixtures, and tasting bar. The history center, a favorite Sonoma County visitor’s destination, was created by linking five enormous vats, originally designed to hold wine, to form a rhythm of sandblasted concrete exhibit spaces.
